BERNARD ZITO
Our producer’s story and background

BERNARD ZITO

From his grandparent in Italy, who practiced polyculture and had vineyards in Apulia, to his current winemaking activity in Burgundy, Bernard Zito’s history has been entwined with wine all his life. His wine journey started in Beaujolais, where he worked for 5 years, before settling in Burgundy in 1983. He was employed from 1987 to 2005 at the Boisset group, where he worked with the implementation of organic and Biodynamic viticulture at various estates of the group, including Domaine de la Vougeraie, and their estates all over the world.
After this experience, he became a very sought-after consultant regarding organic farming, helping vine growers convert their vineyard to organic farming. With his over 3-decade long experience, he’s actually helped many prime Domaines convert their vineyard during the past 15 years.  This “Mr Organic” is the man behind the shadows of many Domaine who have converted to organic. His prestigious clients includes some top names of Burgundy, like Louis-Michel Liger-Belair, Clos de Tart, Clos des Lambrays, Charles Lachaux, Sylvain Pataille, Pascal Mugneret .Now still a consultant in organic farming, he has evolved more towards biodynamic methods as well. It is only natural that after helping all those famous Domaines, he would turn to winemaking for himself. In 2008, he started his activity, helped by his many contacts from high-quality Domaines to buy premium grapes for winemaking. Since he is still busy with his many missions as a consultant to several Domaines, his production remains small but his wines are worth your attention. All the operations are made in the Wine Studio of Bligny-Les Beaune, founded by Dominique Lafon and Pierre Meurgey.
